3D Glasses alternative (also: is there a Maze Hunter TWO-D?)
Post Posted: Fri Aug 01, 2008 1:43 pm
I just searched eBay for some 3D glasses for the SMS but amazingly I don't see any. Did I wait too long to buy one of these? Well, can't I use other kinds of 3D glasses and if so which are recommended? Maybe I can't because it needs the adapter that goes into the card slot.

Hmm, well I guess my third question is... does Maze Hunter 3D have a 2D mode? :)

Oh yeah, Meka can disable the 3D effect. (Dang, how did I forget this after I ripped Space Harrier 3D's soundtrack?) Anyway, just now noticing that Meka uses Allegro. I think? Says "initializing Allegro..."

MEKA for DOS had a feature to connect 3D glasses thru a simple adapter (technical.txt). It doesn't work for Windows but someone could design a similar adapter.

Maze Hunter:

No 2D mode AFAIK.

Maze hunter 3D is rumored to have a 2D mode, but no one's ever found it.

I asked about this a few years ago, and even though someone (Maxim, I believe) looked through the code, all he found was a level select code.

...though it's still possible it exists.

I just looked at the code and created a Pro Action Replay code that disable the 3D effect:

00FFFB00
(also try 00DFFB00 if there is a problem)

Can anyone test this code on real hardware?
The original game code doesn't seem structured to allow for a cheat to disable the effect, I think.

I've found that using the eBay top-left search box in Firefox works better than eBay's actual search on the web site. It uses a different URL, the modern eBay search categorizes first and some other weird things, so I just use the Firefox search box.

Ooh, an excuse to break out my PAR!! I've been playing Maze Hunter a lot lately, but I have to block the screen so my wife doesn't accidentally look at it and barf. So that would actually be a handy hack. I'll test it out this weekend!

Hey, the first code works. I meant to try the second one as well, but now I got it all set up so I'm going to play through it. To look for any bizarre behavior. Yeah, that's the ticket.

... one thing to note is that sprite collision detection is not what I'm used to. Should have expected that!

Anyway, the second code also works.
