Sega 8-bit autumn of dumps Part 1: Hyper Sports 2, other Konami classics and more

I have so many things to unload it looks like we're in for a full season cycles of dumps. Seven new Taiwanese and Korean dumps today!
Hyper Sports 2 / Àoyùn èr dài (奧運二代) for the SG-1000, as released in Taiwan. Sequel to button mashing Hyper Sports, this version features ball-trap, archery and weight-lifitng. This game wasn't released in Japan on the SG-1000 but our Aaronix friends took care of a nice port from the MSX1. I find the sequel actually more enjoyable than the original due to his much improved responsivity. Now if someone can manage to succeed on the weight lifting (I failed so many times) please send me a fax. Early Konami classics - see if you can find a pattern with the title screens: Taiwanese Cabbage Patch Kids / Wáwá lìxiǎn (娃娃歷險) for the SG-1000. Taiwanese and Korean Circus Charlie / Mǎxì tuán (馬戲團) for the SG-1000. Taiwanese Magical Tree / Móguǐ shù (魔鬼樹) for the SG-1000 (a Korean version exists but I couldn't get my hands on it yet). Magical Tree is quite entertaining but all three are very playable and classics in the jumping genre. As a general trend it looks like Taiwanese releases were more polished then their Korean counterpart, with superfluous keyboard options removed. Sorry I don't have the Korean readings for some of those games so they aren't on the site yet. Finally we've got two SG-1000 classics in their Korean version which I have recently acquired: the wonderful Gulkave / (칼케이브) for the SG-1000, an early taste of Compile deadly enemy patterns in the shooter genre, and Super Tank (슈퍼탱크) for the SG-1000, which Taiwanese version I released in our previous update and now here's the Korean dump. Have fun! |
