Punch Kidd for iPhone
Post Posted: Sat Jun 27, 2015 3:53 pm
Seems a little odd for me, but it's Alex Kidd anyway, in another point of view

About the music, I didn't like the crack intro chiptune style

(Well, I like crack chiptunes, but it's not suitable for this game)

Indeed, a carbon copy of Alex Kidd haha

If it has new levels, or new game modes, could be a chance. Yet it is a low quality ones, I guess

I'm the developer. My intention was never to infringe any IP. Honestly, I searched for Alex Kidd in the App Store because I wanted to buy it. When I saw it didn't exist, It got me wondering if I should just try and create something similar myself. Everything was made from scratch, no code or artwork has been copied. Consider it a homage to the original game. There are subtle differences throughout ;)

As for more original levels, things are in the pipeline to deliver just that :)

I think Sega could get it pulled if they tried, and the App Store approvers would reject it if they knew. But apart from that, why not. It's not as if Sega are going to release it any time soon...

This looks pretty cool. Does the game support bluetooth controllers? I'd love to play it with my SNES 30 controller.

If the Evil N did not sue to get Lep's World removed from Google Play and Windows Store, I doubt Sega would even bother. Ni****do has always been stricter on IP infringement.

Besides graphics and music changes, it seems to be 95% Alex Kidd in Miracle World and 5% something new. If Sega sees it, unless they really don't care, it could be pulled. I suggest trying to make it a little less of a complete clone and change it up a bit more. Still, it is nice to see something about Alex Kidd since Sega doesn't talk about him anymore.

Considering how SEGA is 100% pro-fangame and pro-ROMhack, imagine if they hired you on to make an Alex Kidd in Miracle World iOS/Android/possibly 3DS remake, perhaps with revised/HD graphics and music.

That would be AMAZING!!

Heh, the guy even posted a bloody Speedrun on his channel... which is strange as it's the poorest speedrun I've seen recently.

Also is it just me or does the game seem like it's made in GameMaker Studio? There's something about the screen transitions that make me think so...

EDIT: I just noticed that the Teddy Boy Daruma Things hop way too quickly as well.

Plus about 90% of the bosses just... don't exist.
