Operation Japan - Massive Rom Dumping Tour
Post Posted: Fri Mar 18, 2011 4:00 am
In spite of the on-going panic/event, it was planned since a long time that this week I would travel in Japan and visit major collectors for dumping sessions.

I am happy to say I already have 50+ new dumps, I finished dumping all known SC-3000 educational software, confirmed some of the rarest SG-1000 carts, got a handful of prototype and demo roms, and now I am half-way going through a huge set of Korean games including quite a bunch of Korean originals or game yet unknown.

Really? From ready-made flour from the shop or self-made? :p

It's hard to find that kind of flour to make okonomiyaki and takoyaki here in the West.

cheers,

guangling

OMG, that picture O_o
Bock, could you also do some kind of interviews of those collectors ? And take tons of pictures ?
And of course: did you see someone wih a collection similar to yours in term of quantity/rarities ?

The gentleman I'm staying at right now, Masato (past owner of the Loose-Logic shop) has a rather massive collection of Sega 8-bit stuff. The Korean games are his. I guess our collection in scope are comparable, but he has more Korean stuff and I have more US/EU and more small variations. And my stuff are overally in better condition ^_^

There's also a bunch of Brasilian stuff here but I don't know if I will have time to go thru them. I have 80 new dumps already.
Also some nice systems here, such as boxed Korean Mark III and Korean Master System. I'm taking heaps of pictures.

I just went through 60+ non-exclusive TecToy cartridges that I don't own, so now I think we are reaching 90%+ coverage of Brazilian cartridges. Also did all the AU/NZ/EU SC-3000 games he owned but skipped on the Basic so far.

Any chance that Wonder Kid/Adventure Kid was among those carts?

It seems not, although there are some conversions of ultra-rare MSX games to look forward to, and some interesting original(?) stuff.

Cool to see pics of Masato's collection. I've sent him a handful of Korean SMS titles. Also, cool to know they're being dumped. I wonder if anything I sent was new or undumped.
