Issue with recently purchased Game Gear
Post Posted: Sat Oct 10, 2009 10:08 pm
Hey there,

I apologize if this has been covered previously. I searched, but could not find a solution.

I recently picked up a Game Gear. I got it home, put in a fresh set of batteries and then put in Sonic 2. The power light comes on, the screen looks green. If I look at it at an extreme angle it looks blue. I can hear the game sounds, and it sounds like the game is playing. However, I don't see anything on the screen. Anyone else experience this?

Thanks in advance!

Cheers!

Surely, the screen is too dark. Make it a bit brighter and you should be fine.

I think it is a capacitor...

I did some more research and decided to open the GG up. There is one capacitor that looks like it leaked all over the place. I am pretty sure this is the issue. Too bad really because this system looks brand new! There is not a scratch on it.

Cheers!

See the stickied thread at the top of this forum: Game Gear turns itself off/screen is unreadable/sound is gone/screen flashes. :-) It's a common problem!
