Wonderboy Movie & Online Petitions

Are petitions wanting games to be released or made a waste of time?

I know a guy who wants to put one on my site because he wants to show Sega that there is enough interest in Wonder Boy out there to warrant them giving him the rights to make a feature film.
I've read the script and gave him some pointers. It's quite good and involves all the games and comics of the series.

Online petitions mean absolutely nothing. One like this will probably struggle to reach a few hundred "signatures" and even if it somehow got into the thousands, it wouldn't really matter because online signatures mean nothing, market research suggesting it'd make them some money is pretty much what's needed. And it won't.

Petition means nothing unless maybe it's really high scale. Apart from extreme high scale cases, they are usually only a mean to gather people on a shared vision of something and perhaps they can do other things later but the petition itself doesn't worth much.

Personally I would rather not see a too-official feature film unless it is really astonishing, and pardon me but if your friend is considering petitioning on the internet to get rights to do this he probably doesn't have what it takes to make something astonishing today. It's better having something "good" judged as unofficial unapproved fanboy interpretation, than an official crap ruining the license or at least what is left of it.
(I would not even be reassured if Sega wanted to make a Wonder Boy today, since they tend to do crappy games now)

That cartoon sucked.

It probably got a hell of a lot more signatures, there's thousands of people who say "I loved that cartoon"; also, releasing a DVD is quite cheap, and has little risk of embarrassing or diluting the brand.

Correction, it will be a straight to DVD and about 80mins long.

Apparently Uwe Boll of Alone In The Dark, Bloodrayne, and House Of The Dead, wants to make it.

Mysterious Cities of Gold have lot of charm, and interesting documentary at the end of each episodes. Like most old animes however, there's almost nothing going on in a single episode, it's super stretched out and quite boring to watch today.

Yes and no. Depending on the company and how they feel you would need to attract alot of attention like a brick threw the presidents window. However in these extremes we would need to be able sit with the chairman or whoever gives the go on new products and negotiate with them.

I have my own ideas to give SEGA the power to go back into the console race but I do not know how to setup such a meeting or even write something to negatiate. Basically my laziness from using the internet.

Alex Kid

I have yet to play this game I hear about but from the shots and advertisments Alex Kid is just Adventure Island. We would have to take a wider senario and put Alex in a place where it diffrence itself from Adventure Island.

On the topic of Adventure Island. Alex is dipicted as a Monkey ( average Goku )
Fighting baddies on the island. There is too many other series out there that does the exact same thing with regular people. Another sad part is that people in the west think Alex is a kid or real human being.

In my opinion the idea of allways having something to play or a alternative to another series is the real creation of Alex Kid. It looks like Adventure Island from the shots along with the US advertisment of him being a islander man with a hammer and skate board.

That whole island adventure concept is the real problem with Alex Kid and any other Dinosaur/Green Green/Vacation games with comical/funny characters.

City OF Gold Cartoon

The problem with this is many things.

To be honest if we could do a Cartoon
where it talks about the origins of etc while they go on adventures in the city of
gold but at the same time does not become a educational series.

Also how would it end?

Will the entire society of Aztecs, Mayans, Inkas be wiped out?

Will it go into the civil war and then Industrial?

Will it show Mexico and even Zorro?

Will it show the current Native Amerikans along witht he Eskimos and other tribes?

Will it talk about the regions of True Amerika?

1. Is there a Spanish version?
2. How did it do in real South Amerika?
3. Who came up with the Giant Gold Bird space ship.
4. Captian planet already has a Simular ship.
5. What would be the theme of this show if it ever returned?
6. Would there be new adventures?

The Show would be real nice to see and updated politely with artists from Cuba,
and even Columbia or something like that drawing with neo-realistic anime styles.

Like that guy in Bleach who showed his grand father defending himself?

ahhhhh.... I think your mixing up Alex Kidd with wonderboy.

Alex Kidd is nothing like adventure Island, you're probably thinking of Wonderboy, which IS Adventure Island, since Sega would not let Westone use the Wonder Boy character on the NES.

Alex Kidd's story is about a young boy (unknowingly orphaned) who was training under a martial arts form called Shellcore. To make things sort, he goes on a quest and finds the truth about his real family while trying take down the villans that have taken over the land.

Alex's primary attack is his fist, quite the puncher. Also involves swimming, and some sweet motorbike levels (cool as in, the only other games I played at the time were Atari 2600 games), and the petecopter. Cool castles that scrolled by-screen in all directions to explore.

I think you definately have your games mixed up, Wonderboy is a one way (most of the time) side scroller where he throws a hatchet as a weapon, and occasionally rode a skateboard.

About Wonder Boy. Adventure island did a better job os using the islander senario in the many sequels to the point where I would prefer Adventure island.

Also Wonder boy somehow goes into a Conan RPG Geomon like state???

I also seen a better game on another system that had bigger and better animations ( probably the PCE or Genesis ).

I mean once you give Wonder Boy a helmet and sword you pretty much turn him into Kid Icrius but now he went from Islander to White Knight.

About that confusion. I have a Advertisment with Wonderboy with a monkey ( Pacific islander face ). I mean it looks just like a monkey to be honest between a man. It is kinda funny how Wonder Boy looks nothing like this but Alex Kid is a Monkey ( like Monkey Magic/DB )

Uwe Boll

He is using the Germans money system to make his movies. If it reaches a certian amount he has to pay a fee of some sort and if not then it get reinbersted or something like that.

In short we need to maike Uwe Boll dishounor German Film. Make him look so bad as a German Film Director that Germany will consider it a crime for him or anybody related to make films using there system.

It is a win win situation like with the Speed-Racer and Mighty Atom Movies.

Speed Racer

Is now another piece of trash movie. I mean WTF there is a live action Speed Racer ( I think two of them ) why not base it off that and not some fatty yolkell.
I feel it is just part of Amerika going back dumb dumb consumer state. That butt-faced monkey is too old along with that fatty kid to hid in the back trunck of anything.

I mean why god almighty can't they do anything right.

Well forget about the Petition. The author said screw Sega I'll make it anyway.
Here is a video which is a test of some of the characters.
