I am a Taiwanese...in my country, a game console called Aaronix.It is a clone version of SEGA-1000.
But I do not know, it is pirated or official(licensed by sega)? |

I doubt it is official.
Here is some other page I found about it: http://forum.philboxing.com/viewtopic.php?f=38&p=3802838 And this: http://ultimateconsoledatabase.com/others/aaronix.htm Says it is Chinese. Aaronix also made Famicom clones. |

Those pages seem non-authoritative to me. A true clone would have a different look and more obviously pirated games; I think some of the Aaronix branded games may be produced from source code rather than ROM hacks, but I'm not certain. The general presentation quality of Aaronix products and the fact that they mention Sega suggests it was legitimate.
Of course, there were pirate cartridges available in Taiwan, but they were not from Aaronix. |

The hardware sure looks legit (but then again, Taiwan produced some Famiclones in the 80s that looked exactly like the real deal, too), but that doesn't necessarily mean that any / all of the games are.
JayChouFan, would it be possible for you find out since when Taiwan has a law that protects computer programs through copyright? And whether or not it applies to software made before that date? |
